Classes and Programs

Lincoln Park Hospital provides prenatal and other educational classes through Rush Perinatal Network to help the entire family prepare for the birth of the baby. Assistance with breast-feeding is available on an individual basis; additionally, dietitians certified in Women Infant Care (WIC) are available for consults.

• Most classes are available in both English and Spanish.

Complimentary tours of the units are available to help you become familiar with the department, staff and hospital policies, as well as the different birthing options. To tour the unit, enroll in any of the classes, express any special requests or needs, please call Labor and Delivery at 773.883.3737.

The visitation policy for the Maternal-Child Services Department is:

• Labor and Delivery: between the hours of 11 a.m. and 8 p.m., two people may visit at a time in addition to the father or primary support person who may stay and visit at any time. Siblings of the infant, regardless of age, may visit.
• Mother-Baby (post partum): two people may visit at a time between the hours of 11 a.m. and 8 p.m., to include the patient's children. The father or primary support person may stay or visit at any time.

The staff at Lincoln Park Hospital understands the desire and importance of preserving your baby's birth, including his/her first cry, first bath and other memorable moments. As such, we remind you to include your photography equipment in your "take to the hospital bag."  Still photos may be taken at any time during your stay and video recording is allowed at any time except during the actual delivery.  LPH offers these complementary services:

• Complimentary photo services and proof sheet provided with ability to print purchased photo packages on site and/or order photographs within a year.
• Complimentary password protected Web Nursery with guest book for friends and family to leave comments when they visit.

While at Lincoln Park Hospital, pain control is a major focus of care.  Our staff is knowledgeable in pain control alternatives and will work to meet your pain management preferences.

• Non-interventional comfort measures are available to include whirlpool tubs for water massage.
• Conventional pain management such as pharmaceuticals and epidurals are available at all times upon request and clinical situation.
